LOS ANGELES, March 10 (UPI) -- Gabe Pruitt scored a game-high 26 points Friday night to lead USC to a 70-61 upset of 12th-ranked Washington State.
The victory helped Southern California qualify for the title game of the Pac-10 Tournament at Los Angeles.
Pruitt sank 6 of 7 three-point attempts to help USC win for the third time in its last five games.
USC had a 38-34 halftime lead and quelled all WSU comeback efforts in the second half.
Taj Gibson and Lodrick Stewart scored 15 points each; Pruitt added three rebounds three assists, and two steals; and Gibson also had nine rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots for the third-seeded Trojans (24-10), who will face No. 18 Oregon in Saturday's championship game.
Derrick Low led WSU with 15 points and two rebounds.
Kyle Weaver scored 13 points; and Taylor Rochestie added 11 points and two rebounds for the second-seeded Cougars (25-7), who had beaten USC twice during the regular season.
