Vikings' Asher Allen retires at age 24

ST. LOUIS, March 8 (UPI) -- The St. Louis Blues snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday, downing the Dallas Stars, 5-3.
Lee Stempniak and Brad Boyes tallied a goal and an assist and Doug Weight scored twice. Eric Brewer also scored for the Blues, who will host Montreal on Saturday before a three-game road trip. Curtis Sanford made 24 saves in the win.
Dallas remained winless in March. Mike Modano, Jere Lehtinen and Philippe Boucher scored for the Stars. Mike Smith allowed four goals on 28 shots in the losing effort.
Dallas is now locked in a three-way tie with Calgary and Minnesota for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
