NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Russell Carter (24) and Colin Falls (23) combined for 47 points Thursday as 16th-ranked Notre Dame beat Syracuse, 89-83.
The victory came in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament at New York.
Notre Dame escaped with a victory after overcoming a two-point halftime deficit and outscoring Syracuse, 57-49, in the second half.
Falls was 7-for-17 on three-point attempts, and Carter was 4-for-10.
For the game, Notre Dame sank 13 of 34 three-pointers.
Luke Harangody had 20 points and 11 rebounds for the Irish (24-6), who advanced to a semifinal contest against ninth-ranked and top-seeded Georgetown on Friday.
Paul Harris led Syracuse with 24 points and 14 rebounds.
Eric Devendorf had 19 points and three assists; Demetris Nichols had 17 points and three rebounds; while Terrence Roberts added 10 points and 19 rebounds for Orange (22-10), who were trying to win the tournament for the third straight time.
