
TAMPA, Fla., March 8 (UPI) -- Brandon Costner scored seven of his 30 points in overtime Thursday night as North Carolina State knocked off No. 21 Duke, 85-80.
The victory came in the opening round of the ACC Tournament at Tampa.
The contest was tied at 70 at the end of regulation after Duke's DeMarcus Nelson sank a lay-up with 43 seconds left.
In the extra five minutes, NCSU out-scored Duke, 15-10.
Engin Atsur had 21 points, two rebounds, and two assists; and Ben McCauley added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the 10th-seeded Wolfpack (16-14), who will face second-seeded Virginia in Friday's semifinals.
Greg Paulus led Duke with 18 points, two rebounds, and two assists.
Josh McRoberts and Nelson scored 17 points apiece; while Martynas Pocius and Jon Scheyer each scored 14 points for the seventh-seeded Blue Devils (22-10), who suffered their third loss in a row after a 34-29 halftime lead.
