COL BKB: Louisville 82, West Va. 71 (2 OT)

NEW YORK, March 8 (UPI) -- Terrence Williams scored a team-high 21 points Thursday night as 15th-ranked Louisville beat West Virginia, 82-71, in double overtime.

The win was in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament at New York.

Louisville could not hold its 35-27 halftime lead after it was out-scored, 31-23, in the second half.

The game was tied at 58 after Louisville squandered a 17-point second half lead.

In the second overtime, Louisville built a 75-66 lead with 1:24 left.

Earl Clark had 17 points and nine rebounds; and David Padgett had 16 points, six rebounds, and five assists for the second-seeded Cardinals (23-8), who have won seven in a row.

Frank Young led WVU with 19 points and six rebounds.

Da'Sean Butler had 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists; and Jamie Smalligan added 13 points and eight rebounds for the seventh-seeded Mountaineers (22-9), who had beaten Providence, 92-79, in Wednesday's opening round.
