ASHDOD, Israel, March 5 (UPI) -- Israeli authorities say they believe the deaths of a professional Israeli wrestler and his wife were a case of murder-suicide.
The bodies of Henry Papiashvili and his wife Iya were found in their apartment in Ashdod by his brother-in-law and fellow wrestler Gotcha Tzitziashvili.
Papiashvili, 29, killed his wife early Monday before taking his own life, authorities told YNetNews.
"Family members entered the flat with a key they had ... the couple lay on the floor separated by a gun," paramedics said.
Police said the couple was not known to have a history of domestic violence. "We are investigating the motives behind the incident," an officer said.
Their only child was with his grandparents at the time of the killings.
The Greco-Roman wrestler won the under 90-kilo category gold medal in the 1998 World Youth Wrestling Championship.
