Beckham has signed a five-year contract worth a reported $50 million with the Los Angeles Galaxy of Major League Soccer. He was to join the MLS team after Real Madrid season ends this summer.

The deal had him at odds with Real Madrid Manager Fabio Capello but Beckham's play of late had got him back into the starting lineup.

The injury also ends thoughts of Beckham rejoining the English national team with a pair of qualifiers for Euro 2008 at the end of the month.
