NHL: Florida 6, Washington 5 (SO)

WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 (UPI) -- Jozef Stumpel scored in the shootout and Olli Jokinen had his third hat trick of the season Tuesday as the Florida Panthers beat Washington, 6-5.

Stephen Weiss and Juraj Kolnik also scored and Ed Belfour made 28 saves for the Panthers.

Alex Ovechkin had two goals and two assists for Washington, which has lost five of its last six games (1-3-2).

Brooks Laich, Brian Sutherby and Kris Beech each added a goal in the setback. Washington goaltender Brent Johnson allowed four goals on 15 shots in the first period and was pulled in favor of Frederic Cassivi, who stopped 17 shots in relief.
