NHL: N.Y. Islanders 3, Toronto 2 (SO)

UNIONDALE, N.Y., Feb. 22 (UPI) -- Randy Robitaille scored the winning goal in a shootout Thursday night as the New York Islanders downed Toronto, 3-2.

Trent Hunter scored both regulation goals for the Islanders, who have four wins in their last five games.

New York's Rick DiPietro made 27 saves in a battle of teams fighting for a playoff spot.

Alexei Ponikarovsky and Matt Stajan scored for the Maple Leafs to give them a 2-0 lead, but the Leafs lost for the fifth time in seven contests.

It was Stajan's first goal in 19 games.
