Top seed reaches Memphis quarterfinals

MEMPHIS, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- No. 1 seed Shahar Peer of Israel did not lose a set Wednesday in reaching the quarterfinals of the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships in Memphis.

Peer's 6-0, 6-0, victory came over Milagros Sequera, setting up a meeting with Bethanie Mattek of the United States. Mattek became a surprise quarterfinalist when sixth-seeded Shenay Perry suffered a knee injury and had to retire in the second set.

Defending champion Sofia Arvidsson also earned a quarterfinal berth by defeating Nicole Pratt, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3.
