WASHINGTON, Feb. 21 (UPI) -- Joe Pavelski and Jonathan Cheechoo scored shootout goals Wednesday night in bringing the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 decision over Washington.

Washington took the lead in the shootout on a goal by Matt Pettinger, but Evgeni Nabokov did not allow another tally while Pavelski and Cheechoo were beating Brent Johnson.

San Jose ended a three-game losing streak, with Patrick Rissmiller and Matt Carle scoring in regulation.

Washington's goals came from Shaone Morrisonn and Brian Sutherby, but they were not enough to keep the Capitals from losing their fifth straight.

San Jose overcame an early 2-0 deficit.
