Argentine Roitman beats countryman Acasuso

BUENOS AIRES, Feb. 19 (UPI) -- Sergio Roitman beat eighth seed and fellow Argentine Jose Acasuso, 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 Monday at the Copa Telmex round robin.

In another round-robin match, Russian Igor Andreev defeated Spaniard Alberto Martin, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1.

In main-draw elimination action, Argentine Diego Hartfield beat German Denis Gremelmayr 7-6 (7-5), 6-1; Italian Alessio Di Mauro beat Argentine Carlos Berlocq 6-1, 6-3; and Italian Stefano Galvani beat Argentine Diego Junqueira 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Also, Italian Potito Starace beat Argentine Mariano Zabaleta, 7-6 (11-9), 6-2; and France's Nicolas Devilder beat Argentine Juan Pablo Brzezicki 6-3, 5-7, 6-3.

This week's tournament is a 32-player round-robin draw consisting of a 16-player "play-off," with eight winners joining 16 other players to make up eight groups of three players.

The winner from each group will advance to the quarterfinals.
