COL BKB: North Carolina 77, Boston Col. 72

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Tyler Hansbrough had 17 points and seven rebounds Saturday as No. 4 North Carolina beat No. 21 Boston College, 77-72, to take first place in the ACC.

Brandan Wright and Ty Lawson each added 13 points and Lawson had seven assists and six rebounds as the Tar Heels (23-4, 9-3 ACC) moved past Boston College (18-8, 9-4) into the top spot in the conference.

North Carolina beat Boston College for the first time since the 1975 NCAA Tournament.

Jared Dudley scored 22 points for the Eagles, but missed three consecutive free throws late in the second half that would have tied the game.

Tyrese Rice added 20 points for Boston College, which has dropped two in a row after a four-game winning streak.
