NHL: Boston 4, Buffalo 3

BUFFALO, N.Y., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Petr Tenkrat scored in the eighth round of the shootout Saturday night to lead the Boston Bruins to a 4-3 win over Buffalo.

In the eighth round, Jochen Hecht had a chance to put Buffalo ahead, but Tim Thomas made a pad save on Hecht's wrist shot.

Tenkrat then scored the game-winner.

In regulation, Shean Donovan and Marc Savard each had a goal and an assist, Marco Strum and Marc Savard scored and Thomas made 22 saves on 25 shots. Thomas later stopped all eight Buffalo skaters in the shootout for the Bruins, who have won three of their last four games.

Daniel Briere had a goal and an assist, Drew Stafford and Chris Drury scored once each, and Ryan Miller stopped 27 of 30 shots for the Sabres, whose four-game winning streak was broken.

Buffalo scored all of its goals on the power play, while Boston went 0-for-4.
