
MORGANTOWN, W.Va., Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Frank Young scored a team-high 18 points Saturday afternoon as No. 22 West Virginia topped Seton Hall, 81-71.
WVU took control of the game early in the second half with a 9-2 burst that followed a slim 36-33 halftime lead.
Seton Hall would not go away, trailing only 62-60 with just over six minutes left, but a 15-2 run late in the game settled the issue for the winners.
Darris Nichols had 17 points and five assists; Joe Alexander and Alex Ruoff scored 13 points apiece; while Young also had five rebounds, and four assists for the Mountaineers (20-6, 8-5 Big East), who have won two of their last three games.
Eugene Harvey led Seton Hall with 19 points and four rebounds.
Brian Laing had 16 points and 10 rebounds; while Paul Gause added 12 points and 10 rebounds for the Pirates (12-13, 3-9), who have dropped four games in a row.
