COLUMBUS, Ohio, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Fredrik Norrena recorded his third shutout of the season Friday night as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the San Jose Sharks, 3-0.

It was San Jose's second straight shutout loss, following a 5-0 setback at Nashville Wednesday.

Norrena stopped all 29 shots he faced, and got the only goal he would need when left wing Fredrik Modin scored at 4:56 of the second period.

Gilbert Brule and Sergei Fedorov added goals in the third period, while Modin and Fedorov had an assist each for the Blue Jackets, who rose to 2-3 on their six-game home stand.

Evgeni Nabokov allowed three goals on 19 shots for the Sharks, who have dropped three of five.

Fedorov scored the game's lone power-play goal.

In two earlier games this season, San Jose had outscored Columbus, 8-2.
