Ching returning to soccer's Houston Dynamo

HOUSTON, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Brian Ching, the Major League Soccer Cup's most valuable player last season, Thursday agreed to a contract with the Houston Dynamo.

Terms of the deal were not released.

Ching, 28, tied for the team lead with 11 goals for Houston last season, including a bicycle kick score against D.C. United that sent the Dynamo into the MLS playoffs. That goal was voted the MLS goal of the year.

Houston went 11-8-13 in 2006 and won the MLS Cup by defeating the New England Revolution on penalty kicks. Ching had the lone Houston goal in regulation play that forced the penalty kick situation.

"I love this team, and want to continue playing in Houston," Ching said. "What we did last year was just a taste of what the Dynamo can accomplish in the future. I am looking forward to continuing to build on the success we showed in 2006."
