ANAHEIM, Calif., Feb. 8 (UPI) -- Milan Michalek's goal with 3:46 left to play Wednesday night gave the San Jose Sharks a 3-2 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
Jonathan Cheechoo scored twice and Ryane Clowe assisted on all three goals for the Sharks, who avenged Tuesday's 7-4 loss to the Ducks in San Jose, to remain five points behind Anaheim for first place in the Pacific Division.
Vesa Toskala stopped 20 shots and Joe Thornton had two assists for San Jose, which has won two of its last three games.
Teemu Selanne and Scott Thornton scored and Ilja Bryzgalov made 26 saves for the Ducks, who lost for the second time in their last three games.
The Ducks went up, 2-1, 44 seconds into the third period on Scott Thornton's goal, but the Sharks tied it with 9:24 to play when Cheechoo scored on a feed from Clowe. The Sharks scored the game winner when Michalek tipped a slap-shot by Marc-Edouard Vlasic past Bryzgalov into the net.
