Bulls fine Thomas $10K for comment

CHICAGO, Feb. 7 (UPI) -- The Chicago Bulls have fined Tyrus Thomas $10,000 for saying his only interest in the All-Star weekend NBA slam-dunk contest is the money.

General Manager John Paxson called Thomas' comment "a poor reflection on Tyrus individually and a poor reflection on the Bulls organization."

"I am certainly disappointed," Paxson said, adding participation in the slam-dunk contest should be considered "an honor that whould be accepted with humility."

Thomas is expected to appeal the fine, the Chicago Tribune reported. There was no immediate word on whether Thomas' invitation would be rescinded.
