NHL: Buffalo 4, Atlanta 3 (SO)

ATLANTA, Feb. 6 (UPI) -- Daniel Briere scored two goals in regulation and another in a shootout Tuesday to give the Buffalo Sabres a 4-3 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers.

Thomas Vanek scored the Sabres other goal and Nathan Paetsch had two assists for Buffalo, which has won three of its last four games.

Ryan Miller made 27 saves and stopped both shooters in the shootout.

Ilya Kovalchuk, Jon Sim and Scott Mellanby each had a goal for the Thrashers, who have lost their last three games. Kari Lehtonen made 25 saves.
