LOS ANGELES, Feb. 2 (UPI) -- Lasse Kukkonen scored a goal in the first minute of overtime, lifting the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.
Chicago's Denis Arkhipov stopped in the right circle and snapped a quick pass to Kukkonen. He fired a shot from 20 feet that beat Los Angeles goaltender Sean Burke 57 seconds into the extra period Thursday and sent the Kings off to their 10th loss in 11 games.
Chicago has won consecutive games since ending a 10-game losing streak.
The Blackhawks trailed just for just more than a minute in the game as the teams traded early goals. Los Angeles' Alex Frolov converted a pass from Michael Cammalleri with the game 76 seconds old but Chicago answered at the 2:33 mark with a score from Martin Havlat.
Jeff Hamilton gave the Blackhawks their first lead at 2-1 with a hard shot from the left side in the second period.
The Kings were able to tie the score at 7:09 of the third period when Chicago's Jassen Cullimore was trying to pass to another defender but the puck went toward the net and slipped past goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin. Los Angeles' Jamie Lundmark was credited with the goal.
