David Vyborny and Fredrik Modin scored and Ty Conklin had 32 saves for the Blue Jackets, who had come into the game with a four-game winning streak.

The Oilers opened the scoring on the power-play at 3:31 of the first period, as Conklin deflected Marc-Andre Bergeron's shot from the right circle -- only to watch as Smyth hit the puck like a baseball into the net.

Edmonton scored again just 22 seconds into the second period when Torres picked up a rebound of Pisani's shot and put it past Conklin.

Columbus made it 2-1 when Vyborny scored on the power play at 6:03 of the second, but Edmonton scored what turned out to be the game winner when Conklin made a save on a shot by Smyth, but Petr Sykora picked up the rebound and fired it into the net.
