COL BKB: Texas A&M 73, Iowa State 49

COLLEGE STATION, Texas, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Joseph Jones had 21 points and five steals Wednesday night as eighth-ranked Texas A&M trounced Iowa State, 73-49.

The Aggies took the suspense out of the contest by scoring its first 11 points on the way to a 39-23 halftime lead and were never threatened.

Acie Law and Antanas Kavaliauskas each scored 13 points apiece; Law had seven assists; Kavaliauskas had seven rebounds; and Josh Carter added 10 points, three assists, and three rebounds for A&M (18-3, 6-1 Big 12), which improved to 15-0 at home to date.

Wesley Johnson led the Cyclones (11-10, 2-5) with 17 points, three rebounds, and two assists; and Mike Taylor had 13 points, six rebounds and five assists as Iowa State suffered is fifth straight loss following a four-game winning streak.
