COL BKB: N.C. State 70, Virginia Tech 59

BLACKSBURG, Va., Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Ben McCauley led the way Wednesday night with 20 points and seven rebounds as N.C. State upset 18th-ranked Virginia Tech, 70-59.

The Wolfpack (12-8, 2-5 ACC) expanded a two-point halftime advantage by out-scoring Tech, 40-31, in the second half.

Gavin Grant had 16 points and 10 rebounds; Engin Atsur scored 14 points; Courtney Fells had 11 points and five rebounds; while Brandon Costner added nine points and 11 rebounds for the Wolfpack, who snapped a two-game slide and broke Tech's 10-game home-court winning streak in the process.

Zabian Dowdell led the Hokies (16-6, 6-2) with 16 points and seven rebounds.

Jamon Gordon and Deron Washington scored 12 points apiece; and Washington had eight rebounds as Tech had its three-game winning streak snapped.

The Hokies had won seven of their previous eight games.
