WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Venus Williams, who missed the Australian Open with a wrist injury, said she will play in a Fed Cup quarterfinal pitting the United States against Belgium.

U.S. team captain Zina Garrison on Monday said Williams would be available when the Americans play host to Belgium, the 2006 Fed Cup runner-up, on April 21-22 in Delray Beach, Fla.

"Venus is ready to return to competition and we are excited that she is eager to come back to the U.S. Fed Cup team," Garrison said.

Williams owns a 13-3 Fed Cup record since her debut in 1999, when the United States won the Fed Cup. The U.S. team is 5-2 with Williams in the lineup.
