NHL: Detroit 3, Colorado 1

DETROIT, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom both had a goal and an assist Sunday night to help the Detroit Red Wings beat Colorado, 3-1.

Datsyuk scored his goal at 9:44 of the second period on assists by Holmstrom and Henrik Zetterberg to give Detroit a 1-0 lead at the second intermission.

Holmstrom made it 2-0 at 14:02 of the third when Nicklas Lidstrom and Datsyuk had assists.

Paul Stastny scored Colorado's only goal just 35 seconds later to make the score, 2-1.

Detroit's Kirk Maltby scored at 18:54 of the third after assists by Chris Chelios and Kris Draper to cap the scoring.

Dominik Hasek, who turned 42 Sunday, had to make only 11 saves on 12 shots for the Red Wings, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jose Theodore made 38 saves on 41 shots for the Avalanche, who have dropped two straight and have split their last four games.

Stastny had the game's only power-play goal.
