COL BKB: Va. Tech 73, Ga. Tech 65

ATLANTA, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- Zabian Dowdell had 23 points and eight assists Sunday as No. 23 Virginia Tech beat Georgia Tech, 73-65.

Coleman Collins had 13 points, seven rebounds and two assists for Virginia Tech. A.D. Vassallo added 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Hokies (16-5, 6-1 ACC), who have a three-game winning steak.

They had a 38-30 lead at the break, and played the Yellow Jackets to a 30-30 standoff in the second half.

Anthony Morrow led Georgia Tech with 18 points, and Mouhammad Faye had 17 points and nine rebounds. Javaris Crittenton had 12 points, four assists and four steals as Georgia Tech (11-1) suffered its third straight loss -- and its first home-court loss of the season.

The Yellow Jackets came within 49-45 with 10:07 left on a basket by Faye.
