NHL: New Jersey 2, Tampa Bay 0

TAMPA, Fla., Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur stopped 28 shots Friday night to record the 89th shutout of his career as the New Jersey Devils topped the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0.

Brian Gionta scored the deciding goal late in the first period, and Jay Pandolfo scored an empty-netter in the third for the Devils, who have won four of their last five games and eight of their last 10.

Johan Holmqvist made 23 saves for Tampa Bay, which had won two in a row prior to the All-Star break.

On the power play, New Jersey was scoreless on four chances, while Tampa Bay failed to score on two opportunities.
