DENVER, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- Major League Soccer has set up a match between the U.S. league's All-Stars and Scotland's Celtic Football Club next July.

Celtic, which has played since 1888, boasts one of the most dedicated fan bases in sports and is a perennial power in Scotland. It is atop the Scottish Premier League Standings and is eyeing its 41st domestic football championship.

"We are absolutely delighted to be traveling to America again this pre-season to take part in this match versus the MLS All-Stars," said Peter Lawwell, chief executive of Celtic Football Club.

"Celtic has a world-wide audience with thousands of fans in the United States ... Everyone at Celtic is very much looking forward to the trip."

This will be the fourth time that the MLS All-Star team goes against one of the world's top clubs in its All-Star Game. The MLS All-Stars have won all three previous meetings, having beaten Chelsea FC in 2006, Fulham FC in 2005 and CD Guadalajara in 2003.
