COL BKB: Marquette 77, Pittsburgh 74 (OT)

PITTSBURGH, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Dominic James hit two free throws with 0.9 seconds left in overtime and Marquette hit 15 straight foul shots Sunday in a 77-74 upset of No. 6 Pittsburgh.

The Marquette Golden Eagles led most of the way but the Pittsburgh Panthers (17-3, 5-1 Big East) worked back and forced overtime before falling for the first time in eight games. Marquette won its fourth straight and improved to 17-4 overall and 4-2 in the Big East.

Pittsburgh trailed by nine points with four minutes to go and needed nearly every second to tie the score at 64-64. The Panthers' Ronald Ramon hit two free throws with less then four seconds to play to send the game into overtime.

Pittsburgh led, 72-69, with 2:48 left when Ramon hit a three-pointer but Wesley Matthews dropped in four consecutive free throws and James later made two more foul shots that finished the scoring.

The Golden Eagles made their last 15 free throw attempts in frustrating Pittsburgh.

James' final free throws gave him 23 points for the game. Matthews and Dan Fitzgerald each added 14 points.

Ramon had 21 points for the Panthers, who also got 16 points and nine rebounds from Aaron Gray.
