COL BKB: Alabama 78, Georgia 76

TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Ronald Steele connected on a jump shot at the buzzer Saturday, delivering the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide a 78-76 SEC win over the Georgia Bulldogs.

Steele held the ball before the final shot before moving to his left where three George defenders converged. Steele pivoted and let go of the game-winning shot.

He also had a three-point shot that tied that score at 76-76 with 54.1 seconds to go.

The victory allowed the Crimson Tide to improve to 15-3 overall and 2-2 in the Southeastern Conference. Georgia, which led by as many as 19 in the first half, slipped to 11-6 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

Alabama trailed, 41-22, at one point in the first period, and by as much as 11 points in the second before coming back.

Alonzo Gee finished with a team-high 21 points, Mykal Riley had 17 and Jermareo Davidson had 16 for Alabama. Steele ended up with 13 points.

Sundiata Gaines led Georgia with 22 points, six assists and six rebounds. Takais Brown scored 21 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Bulldogs.
