COLUMBUS, Ohio, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Columbus goaltender Freddy Norrena recorded 41 saves Friday night in helping the Blue Jackets to a 3-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.

Columbus scored in each period in support of Norrena, and snapped the Red Wings' five-game wining streak.

The Blue Jackets were up, 2-0, before Detroit solved Norrena five minutes into the third period with a goal by Johan Franzen.

The Red Wings kept pressure on the Columbus defense but the Blue Jackets got lucky on the other end when Detroit's Chris Chelios accidentally kicked the puck into his own net. Columbus' Adam Foote was credited with the power-play goal, giving the Blue Jackets the final two-goal advantage.

Columbus took the lead late in the first period when Dan Fritsche was able to shove a rebound past Red Wings goaltender Dominik Hasek. The Blue Jackets doubled their lead with another power-play goal as Foote set up Alexander Svitov for a shot that was lifted over Hasek.
