COL BKB: UCLA 60, Arizona St. 50

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 19 (UPI) -- Darren Collison fired a second-half run with a three-pointer Thursday, sending the second-ranked UCLA Bruins to a 60-50 win over the Arizona State Sun Devils.

The decision marked the 16th win in 17 games this season for UCLA, which is 5-1 in Pac-10 Conference play. Arizona State is headed the other direction, having lost eight consecutive games to fall to 6-12 overall and 0-7 in the conference.

The Sun Devils fought the Bruins even through much of the second half until Michael Roll and Collison connected on three-point shots in a 9-0 run that put UCLA ahead 50-41.

Arizona State got back to within four points but UCLA countered with a 5-0 spurt to put the game out of reach.

Collison led UCLA with 16 points. Arron Afflalo added 13 and Josh Shipp 12.

Christian Polk scored 16 points and Allen Morill had 11 for the Sun Devils.
