Catcher Sal Fasano joins Blue Jays

TORONTO, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Sal Fasano, a major leaguer since 1996, has signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays and will be invited to the team's spring training.

Fasano, 35, hit .217 with five home runs and 15 runs batted in over 78 games with the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees in 2006.

He's appeared in 396 games, hitting .221 with 46 home runs and 130 RBI over his career. He broke into the majors with Kansas City and also played for Oakland, Colorado, Anaheim and Baltimore before joining the Phillies prior to the 2006 season.
