Tulsa hires new head coach

TULSA, Okla., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The University of Tulsa announced Friday the school has hired Todd Graham to coach its football team.

Graham was hired away from Rice University, which this season went to a bowl game for the first time in 45 years. Graham is a former Tulsa assistant.

"We're extremely pleased to have Todd Graham return to the University of Tulsa as our football coach," Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham said. "There's no question that Todd fits the two main attributes we were looking for in a head coach, the ability to recruit and the right fit for our University.

"Todd's enthusiasm is infectious and his football knowledge and coaching ability is evident."

Graham replaced Steve Kragthorpe, who earlier in the week became the new coach at Louisville.
