Tony Allen out for the season

BOSTON, Jan. 11 (UPI) -- The Boston Celtics announced Thursday that guard Tony Allen had torn two ligaments in his left knee and would require season-ending surgery.

Boston Coach Doc Rivers said it might be six months before Allen is completely recovered.

Allen tore both his ACL and MCL during a game Wednesday night against Indiana. The diagnosis was made Thursday at a local hospital.

He underwent surgery on his right knee two years ago.

Boston is already without Paul Pierce and Theo Ratliff, who are out long-term with injuries.
