MONTREAL, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Martin Brodeur made 28 saves Sunday and recorded his seventh shutout of the season in the New Jersey Devils' 3-0 victory over Montreal.

Brian Gionta scored two of the Devils' goals, helping New Jersey to its sixth win in seven games.

Brodeur has 87 shutouts in his career. Michael Rupp scored New Jersey's first goal 2:21 into the first period.

Montreal has lost five of six.
