NFL: Philadelphia 23, N.Y. Giants 20

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- A 38-yard David Akers field goal in the rain as the gun sounded Sunday gave the Philadelphia Eagles a 23-20 playoff victory over the New York Giants.

After the Giants tied the game with 5:04 remaining, Philadelphia's Jeff Garcia drove his team 46 yards in 10 plays to the winning kick. It was Akers' third field goal of the day, as the Eagles won their sixth straight behind their backup quarterback.
