Diamondbacks acquire Randy Johnson

PHOENIX, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks acquired veteran pitcher Randy Johnson from the New York Yankees Sunday in exchange for four players.

Only a physical examination which Johnson must undergo stands in the way of the trade being made final.

"We have come to an agreement in principle with Randy Johnson pending both us and the Yankees reviewing additional medical information," said Diamondbacks General Manager Josh Byrnes. "We will respectfully decline any comment until all medical information has been reviewed."

Johnson, 43, will return to the team which won the World Series with him in 2001.

Arizona will send the Yankees reliever Luis Vizcaino along with pitching prospects Ross Ohlendorf and Steven Jackson and minor league shortstop Alberto Gonzalez.
