ADELAIDE, Australia, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Top-seed Serbian Novak Djokovic and Australian Chris Guccione won their semifinal matches Saturday at the season-opening Adelaide International.
Djokovic reached Sunday's final with a 6-3, 6-2, victory over Swede Joachim Johansson. Guccione beat Argentine Juan Martin del Potro, 5-7, 6-3, 7-5.
Both winners took advantage of tired opponents. Johansson and del Potro both played quarterfinal matches earlier in the day because of rain Friday.
Johansson beat American Vincent Spadea, 7-6 (9-7), 6-3. Del Potro beat Russian Igor Kunitsyn, 6-2, 6-0.
Djokovic will be going for his third career title Sunday. Guccione has never won a championship and came into the tournament ranked 153rd in the world.
The winner of Sunday's Australian Open tune-up will collect $64,800.
