NHL: Phoenix 2, Carolina 0

RALEIGH, N.C., Jan. 4 (UPI) -- Curtis Joseph's second straight shutout carried the Phoenix Coyotes to a 2-0 win over Carolina Thursday night.

Joseph made 29 saves while Yanic Perreault and Ed Jovanovski scored for Phoenix. The Coyotes won their fourth straight -- their longest winning streak of the season.

Joseph reached a milestone by moving into fifth place on the all-time NHL victory list. His 438th win jumped him ahead of Jacques Plante. Joseph has 49 career shutouts.

Carolina has not scored in two consecutive games.
