NHL: Colorado 5, Nashville 3

NASHVILLE, Jan. 1 (UPI) -- Wojtek Wolski scored a pair of goals and Joe Sakic had three assists Monday as the Colorado Avalanche beat the Nashville Predators, 5-3.

Sakic surpassed Paul Coffey for 10th place on the all-time scoring list, and has 1,533 points for his career.

Milan Hejduk, Andrew Brunette and Ossi Vaananen each scored for Colorado and Peter Budaj stopped 26 shots for the Avalanche, who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Jason Arnott had two goals and Alexander Radulov also scored for Nashville, which has lost two of its last three games. Chris Mason made 30 saves in defeat.
