NHL: Detroit 6, Los Angeles 2

DETROIT, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Dominik Hasek made 28 saves Sunday as the Detroit Red Wings posted a 6-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings.

Hasek earned his 20th win of the season for Detroit, which won its sixth consecutive New Year's Eve home contest.

Pavel Datsyuk and Jason Williams each had a goal and an assist. Tomas Holmstrom, Valtteri Filppula, Kris Draper and Mikael Samuelsson also scored for the Red Wings, who have won six of their last eight games.

Alexander Frolov tallied both goals for the Kings, who have lost six of their last eight. Mathieu Garon stopped 26 of the 32 shots he faced.
