CINCINNATI, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Santonio Holmes' 67-yard touchdown reception in overtime Sunday gave the Pittsburgh Steelers a 23-17 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Steelers won the coin toss in the extra session, and on the third play, Ben Roethlisberger threw a short pass to Holmes, who sprinted down the left sideline.
The loss eliminated the Bengals from the playoffs.
Pittsburgh Coach Bill Cowher -- who led the Steelers to their first Super Bowl title in 26 years by defeating the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL -- reportedly is thinking about retiring.
Willie Parker rushed for 134 yards on 37 carries with two touchdowns while Roethlisberger was 19-of-28 passing for 280 yards.
Carson Palmer completed 20 of 38 passes for 251 yards and two touchdowns for the Bengals (8-8), who ended the season with three straight losses.
