NBA: Phoenix 108, Detroit 101

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Steve Nash had 35 points and 12 assists Sunday as the Phoenix Suns beat the Detroit Pistons, 108-101, in a battle of NBA division leaders.

Amare Stoudemire had 31 points and 13 rebounds for the Suns, who have won three of their last four games and lead the second-place LA Lakers in the Western Conference Pacific Division.

Richard Hamilton scored 31 points for the Pistons, who lost their third straight, but still sit atop the Central Division in the East, ahead of the Chicago Bulls. Ronald Murray added 18 points and seven assists.
