NBA: New Jersey 91, Miami 81

MIAMI, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Vince Carter scored 23 points and New Jersey used a 32-18 third quarter Friday night as a catalyst to a 91-81 win at Miami.

Carter finished with nine assists and six rebounds. Richard Jefferson had 22 points, five rebounds and five assists; Jason Kidd totaled 17 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and two steals; while Marcus Williams and Bostjan Nachbar scored eight points apiece for the Nets, who snapped a four-game losing streak.

New Jersey opened the third quarter with a 28-6 run, including 21 straight points, for a 67-49 lead.

Dorell Wright totaled 21 points, seven rebounds, six blocked shots and four steals for the Heat, who have dropped their last two games.

Jason Williams had 17 points and four rebounds, and Alonzo Mourning had 12 points and nine rebounds, as Miami played its first entire game this season without all-star guard Dwyane Wade, who suffered a sprained right wrist in Wednesday's loss to Chicago.
