
ORLANDO, Fla., Dec. 30 (UPI) -- Sam Hollenbach threw two touchdown passes Friday night as Maryland beat Purdue, 24-7, at the Champ Sports Bowl in Orlando.
In his final game, the senior from Doylestown, Pa., was 15-for-24 for 222 yards.
Lance Ball rushed for 98 yards on 18 carries; Keon Lattimore added 90 yards on 20 carries; Darrius Heyward-Bey scored once on four catches for 81 yards; and Joey Haynos scored once on three receptions for 31 yards for the Terps (9-4), who had ended the regular season with two straight losses.
Curtis Painter completed 23 of 36 passes for 264 yards, one touchdown and one interception; Greg Orton caught Painter's touchdown pass in the second quarter and caught eight passes for 85 yards; and Dorien Bryant made eight receptions for 101 yards for the Boilermakers (8-6), who ended the season with back-to-back losses following a three-game winning streak.
It was there first-ever meeting.
