NBA: Denver 112, Seattle 98

DENVER, Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Allen Iverson scored a game-high 44 points and had 10 assists Thursday night as the Denver Nuggets routed Seattle, 112-98.

Iverson -- playing in his third game for Denver after being traded by Philadelphia -- shot 17-of-29 from the floor and hit on 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. Earl Boykins scored 24 points and Reggie Evans had nine points and 18 rebounds for the Nuggets -- who won their second straight game and their fourth out of five.

Damien Wilkins finished with 26 points and five steals for Seattle. Luke Ridnour had 16 points and five assists and Earl Watson had 15 points and seven assists for the SuperSonics, who lost for the first time in their last three games -- but have dropped seven of their last nine.

The Nuggets took control with a 35-point first quarter, but the Sonics pulled to within 60-56 just before the half.

Denver expanded its lead to 85-76 at the end of three, and pulled away in the fourth.

Denver shot 49 percent from the field, and Seattle hit on 46 percent of its shots from the floor.
