
SHREVEPORT, La., Dec. 28 (UPI) -- Jason Ricks' 27-yard field goal with 31 seconds left Thursday gave Oklahoma State a dramatic 34-31 Independence Bowl win over Alabama in Shreveport, La.
It was his second field goal of the contest. He booted a 28-yarder in the second quarter to help the Cowboys take a 24-14 halftime advantage.
Keith Toston scored on two short runs in the second quarter for Oklahoma State. Bobby Reid passed for one touchdown and 197 yards, Dantrell Savage ran for one touchdown and 144 yards on 19 carries, and Adarius Bowman caught a touchdown pass for the Cowboys (7-6), who broke a two-game skid in their final game of the year.
John Parker Wilson passed for one touchdown and 167 yards for Alabama. Javier Arenas returned punt 86 yards for a fourth-quarter touchdown, and Andre Smith scored on a short run for the Crimson Tide (6-7), who ended the season with a three-game losing streak.
