NEW YORK, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- The slumping New York Giants placed defensive end Michael Strahan back on injured reserve Tuesday due to a sprained foot.
The move ends Strahan's season and will not make it any easier for the Giants, who have lost six of their last seven games, to squeak into the playoffs.

The seven-time Pro Bowl player returned to the lineup only last Sunday and contributed five tackles in a 30-7 loss to New Orleans. He left the game after aggravating the injury he originally suffered on Nov. 5 against Houston.
Strahan is in his 14th season with the Giants.
